George Giaimo founded Balboa Computer in 1993. George’s journey in the computer industry
commenced in 1977 when he embarked on his career at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL)
in Pasadena, California. At JPL, he became an integral part of the spacecraft Voyager’s
navigation team, working with cutting-edge technology. His initial foray involved working with
large computer mainframes, but as the 1980s dawned, he seamlessly transitioned into the
burgeoning realm of personal computers.
In 1983, George graduated from the University of Southern California, armed with a solid
foundation in computer science. He joined BusinessLand, when it was a relatively small company that, over the span of a few years, skyrocketed to a valuation exceeding $1 billion.
George’s profound expertise in both hardware and software, coupled with his exceptional interpersonal skills, opened doors, including a significant account with Paramount Pictures.
Over the ensuing years, George keenly observed the growing need within the motion picture and
television production industry for streamlined utilization of PCs in their workflows. In response
to this burgeoning demand, he founded Balboa Computer.
Since its inception, Balboa Computer has emerged as an indispensable partner for some of the largest studios in the entertainment industry. With a track record of collaboration with numerous motion picture and television productions, George Giaimo’s vision and expertise continue to drive Balboa Computer’s commitment to innovation and excellence.
